Dec. 1 kicked off the countdown to Christmas, Best-of-2012 lists, and the hibernation season for many Canadians. But for 39-year-old Mario Lopez and his longtime girlfriend Courtney Mazza, it also kicked off their life as husband and wife.

At the sunny, Mexico home of Lopez’s buddy Joe Francis, creator of the “Girls Gone Wild” video series, Lopez and Mazza finally tied the knot in front of their two-year-old daughter Gia and 200 guests (including Eva Longoria) after four years of dating. But even after such a long courtship, what do we know about the new Mrs. Lopez?
Courtney Mazza is a 31-year-old Broadway dancer, who met Lopez when he joined the cast of the revival of “A Chorus Line” in 2008. The role of Zach was Lopez’s debut on Broadway, but he already had experience competing on “Dancing With the Stars,” hosting “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and of course, busting some moves as AC Slater on “Saved by the Bell.”
But Mazza, on the other hand, had dreams of being on Broadway since her toddler years. Raised in a Catholic Italian family in Pittsburgh, she began training and performing by attending an arts high school and performing in local productions. Eventually, she made her way to New York City doing revues and workshops, even dancing in Britney Spears’s video for “Me Against the Music.” But she finally got her big break in “A Chorus Line.”
Following that production, Mazza made Broadway appearances in “Cry-Baby,” and “The Little Mermaid.” Also on her Playbill bio is a national tour of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and a role on the TV soap “As the World Turns.”
Also, while in university in Philadelphia, Mazza was chosen out of thousands of auditioners to be part of the four-member girl group Audrey Blue. Their first single “Stay,” was set to drop on Sept. 11, 2001, but never did because of the attacks on the World Trade Center. However, exactly nine years later, Mazza and Lopez had their daughter Gia on September 11, 2010.
The pregnancy put a hiatus on her dancing career, but has by no means slowed her down. She and Lopez starred in their own VH1 reality show “Mario Lopez: Saved By the Baby” which aired from Nov. 2010 to early Jan. 2011.
Now settled in L.A., she currently works as a correspondent for “Top Rank Boxing” on HBO, but she still hasn’t forgotten her dancer roots. According Lopez, she"leaped for joy and did a little jete" when he proposed on the beach in Mexico on New Year’s Eve.
