When it comes to facial hair, Shia LaBeouf is a real transformer.
Tuesday, the "Transformers" star showed up in a Twitpic with his first-ever Verdi beard, which is defined as a short, rounded beard with slightly shaved cheeks and accentuated mustache.
"From the set of 'Transformers: 911' with @thomaslennon and Shia Labeof," comedian Jim Gaffigan tweeted along with a photo of LaBeouf with slicked-back hair and some serious facial scruff. (That was Gaffigan's spelling, not ours -- and we're pretty sure he was kidding about being on the set of the new "Transformers" movie, too.)

The 25-year-old actor premiered his heavy beard and 'stache in August for a new club opening in L.A., a month after showing up to a "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" press conference in Japan the month before with his trademark short, boxed beard in tow.

When not busy filming big-budget action films, LaBeouf appears to prefer that short, boxed beard. He was clean-shaven for both "Dark of the Moon" and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" but grew the shortie in between each project. Just take a look at the heavy beard he sported during the L.A. Marathon in March 2010, two months before cleaning it up for his "Wall Street 2" press duties in Cannes.

He first debuted scruff four years ago at the Nickelodeon 2008 Kids' Choice Awards. The baby-faced kid from "Even Stevens" had adopted his first mature starring role in "Transformers" but, apparently, he needed to make the transformation complete by putting his beard where his mouth was.
