Selena Gomez vs. Lorde: The feud heats up

Selena Gomez can dish it out as well as Lorde, but can the New Zealand wunderkind take it?

Lorde began a feud with 21-year-old Gomez earlier this year when she slammed Gomez's new single, "Come & Get It," for being antifeminist.

"I'm a feminist, and the theme of her song is, ‘When you're ready, come and get it from me,'" the "Royals" singer said. "I'm sick of women being portrayed this way."

In the new issue of Flaunt magazine, Gomez hit back at Lorde for not being supportive of her fellow woman. “That’s not feminism,” she said. “She's not supporting other women. That’s my honest opinion, that’s what I would say to her if I saw her.”

Gomez admitted that she had been covering the 17-year-old songstress's hit tune "Royals" at her shows but may think twice about doing it in the future. "I’m not sure if I’m going to continue that," she told Flaunt.

As for the lead single off her debut studio album, "Stars Dance," Gomez told Ryan Seacrest back in April that she believed it exuded "confidence and strength, and that is something I'm willing to share with the world, that's the place I want to be in; I want to represent something good and be a good example."

Gomez's initial response to Lorde had her chastising the singer-songwriter for "tearing down another artist" but (somewhat patronizingly) granting that the teen star is "young."

In an interview with MTV last month, Lorde stood by her comments. "I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100 percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique," she said.
