Jonah Hill owes his career AND his love life to Dustin Hoffman

Jonah Hill owes a lot to Dustin Hoffman. Not only did the veteran actor land the star his first major film role (in 2004's "I Heart Huckabees"), but it appears Hoffman is also responsible for Hill's love life.

Three months after reportedly breaking up with his girlfriend of three years, Jordan Klein, Hill is said to be dating Hoffman's daughter, 24-year-old Ali. The two have known each other since their teenage years -- plus, Hill also happens to be friends with Ali's brother, Jake.

In fact, it was that friendship that helped Hill, now 28, get his foot in Hollywood's door. As legend has it, Hill was performing at a local comedy club in high school when Jake and Ali dropped by to watch. The duo found Hill hilarious and invited him to have dinner with their family. After he met Hill, Hoffman asked David O. Russell to give the young comedian a part in "I Heart Huckabees."

And we pretty much know how the rest of it went. Only a year after appearing in "Huckabees," Hill caught the attention of Judd Apatow, who cast him in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." (His role may have been small, but it was easily one of the funniest parts of the film.) He subsequently appeared in the producer/director's "Knocked Up" before headlining "Superbad." The rest is history.

Not bad what an introduction to a Hollywood legend can get you.
