Jennifer Lopez talks Ben Affleck’s Golden Globe win

In theory, this could be a nightmarish situation: attending a glamorous event and running into several of your ex-boyfriends, even watching one of them win an award for directing one of the year's most critically acclaimed films. If this happened to just anyone, they might end up slouching in their chair, looking anywhere but the stage, and stealing away in a limo as soon as the cameras shut off.

But it didn't happen to just anyone, it happened to Jennifer Lopez. And, as it turns out, she's not only gorgeous and successful, but also a beautiful human being as well.

While appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week, Lopez and Ellen DeGeneres chatted about this past Sunday's 70th Annual Golden Globes ceremony.

"You must have been so proud. I saw you stand up for Ben," DeGeneres said, referring to Lopez's ex-fiance Ben Affleck, who won the award for Best Director for the movie "Argo."

"Yes, I did. It was a great movie," Lopez added. "And we got, you know, they were really hard on us in the press when we dated back in the day and in movies and things like that. So it was a nice moment. It was nice to see him have that moment. I was really happy for him."

It's true: When Lopez was engaged to Affleck in 2003 (forming one of the earliest couple nicknames, "Bennifer"), the pair had a disastrous year with the critically despised gangster movie "Gigli." Affleck, now 40, has even described the period as "the worst year of [his] life." That movie, followed by multiple Razzie nominations for his performances in "Daredevil" and "Jersey Girl," resulted in Affleck taking up a position behind the camera, which brought him a lot of success with "Gone Baby Gone," "The Town," and now "Argo." Even though Affleck was overlooked by the Academy Awards for his film about CIA agents staging a fake movie production to rescue American diplomats in Tehran (and mostly ignores Canada's involvement in the plan), Lopez still supports him.

"I'm always rooting for him," she told Access Hollywood this week.

But Affleck wasn't the only ex that 43-year-old Lopez had to encounter at the Globes. Also in attendance was Sean Combs, 43, whom she dated over a decade ago. Luckily, Lopez had her new beau, 25-year-old Casper Smart, on her arm.

"Is that awkward? Is that weird?" DeGeneres asked Lopez about running into exes at such events.

"No!" Lopez said with a laugh. "'Cause I see them a lot. We're in the same business; we run in the same circles."

They say that time heals all wounds, and with her breakups with Affleck and Diddy long in the past, it looks like that's true for Lopez. Let's hope that with time, she can feel the same way after her "devastating" divorce from Marc Anthony in 2011.
