How do you get one of the biggest country pop stars in the world to chop off her iconic hair? If you're the most influential fashion magazine in the world, not much.

"Just cut it. It's Vogue," Taylor Swift reportedly said when asked to turn her famous long flowing curls into a straight 'do with bangs for the cover of the famous magazine.

Though Vogue calls Swift's hair on its newly released February issue "new," she actually premiered the haircut last December when she tweeted a photo of herself with the words, "Got a haircut." Just two days prior, the the 22-year-old "Safe and Sound" singer had appeared at the CMT Artists of the Year with her curly blond locks tied back in a twenties-style coif.

But it turns out she has no regrets. "I AM SO EXCITED," Swift tweeted on Tuesday with a link to Vogue's website. Though you shouldn't mistake that for Swift thinking she's too cool for school.

"I don't ever feel like the cool kid at the party, ever," she told Vogue. "It's like, Smile and be nice to everybody, because you were not invited to be here."

The singer stopped caring about being cool when she left school at 16, "because then all that mattered was music and this dream that I'd had my whole life."

At around that point, Swift embraced her look, which included "wearing sundresses and cowboy boots." Now her fans go so far as to curl their hair like hers even though she used to do everything to stamp out her spirals.

"I remember straightening my hair because I wanted to be like everybody else, and now the fact that anybody would emulate what I do?" Swift asked. "It's just funny. And wonderful."

Guess they'll all have to put away their curling irons and break out their straightening plates now.
