If cats have nine lives, then does Kat Von D get nine shots at love? If that's true, she might not need all of them, because she and Niagara Falls-born electronic musician Deadmau5 (real name: Joel Zimmerman) looked very in love on Tuesday as they enjoyed a date at the Cheesecake Factory and the Grove in Hollywood.

Last Friday, Von D began the painful process of removing a large tattoo of her ex-fiancé, Jesse James. Each session requires eight weeks of healing, and it could take anywhere from five to 15 sessions to completely erase the tattoo, so although both parties have moved on from their dramatic breakup in 2011 (James is engaged to heiress Alexis DeJoria), James will still be a presence in the "Kat and Mau5" relationship for some time to come.

Of course, Kat and Joel have experienced their share of drama, too. The couple confirmed their romantic relationship in September with a bunch of adorable cat and Kat photos on Facebook and gushy tweets about being in love. But just two months later, they took to Twitter again to announce their breakup. Though nothing has been confirmed, it was  suggested that Deadmau5 cheated on Kat with actress Chelsea Kane, who currently stars on the sitcom "Baby Daddy" and previously competed on "Dancing With the Stars." A heartbroken Deadmau5 tweeted that Kat "deserved someone stronger."

But this mouse didn't spend too long in the doghouse with Kat: They were seen kissing and holding hands around town only a few days after their breakup.

Kat Von D has a number of other tattoos dedicated to ex-boyfriends, but it's unknown whether she plans on removing all of them. If she does, it's nice that she has a new man there to hold her hand. Or, at least, to buy her some gift certificates for tattoo removal for Christmas.
