Justin Bieber doesn't even have to turn up to win favour from his fans. The Canadian "Boyfriend" singer won FAVE Artist at Sunday night's MuchMusic Video Awards, and #JustinMMVA was trending on Monday morning. All this despite the fact that the pop star wasn't even at the show.
But it looked like that fun did not involve actually attending the MMVAs, where the Biebs was conspicuously absent from the proceedings after beating out Carly Rae Jepsen, deadmau5, Drake, and Marianas Trench to win his trophy. Cody Simpson presented the FAVE Artist award and then accepted it on behalf of his "mate," saying he would give it to Bieber the next time he saw him.
In fact, Simpson had just seen the Ontario native on Friday, when Bieber made a surprise appearance at Simpson's concert in L.A., performing the Australian singer's hit song "Pretty Brown Eyes" with him.
"Surprised the crowd at my bro @CodySimpson show tonight. Proud of him. He killed it! Great job Cody," the Biebs tweeted, adding, "Everyone go see his show. @CodySimpson is talented. Pretty brown eyes I helped with on tour. Good song."
And it looks like Selena Gomez's ex had a busy Friday night, also attending a listening party with Lil Twist and Tyler, the Creator for Kanye West's new album, "Yeezus." "Fact. @kanyewest new album is the truth," Bieber tweeted later.
Though it is unclear what Bieber did Saturday (aside from posting a number of kooky pics), on Sunday the Biebs did send a birthday message to BFF Alfredo Flores and a Father's Day tweet to his dad. "Happy Father's Day @JeremyBieber . Love you. Tell @JazmynBieber and @JaxonBieber I miss them," he tweeted.
We wonder if he missed them as much as his fans missed him at the MMVAs.
