Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie visit Canada for a pre-American Thanksgiving trip

Marriage is all about compromise, and for Hilary Duff, that includes braving the freezing cold conditions of Edmonton in November. Duff learned that the hard way last weekend when she, her former NHL player husband Mike Comrie, and their eight-month-old son Luca left sunny Los Angeles and went to Canada to visit Comrie's family in Alberta.

The family was seen jetting off from LAX on Nov. 15 looking comfortable and happy in nothing more than a light sweater (or onesie, in Luca's case). Only a few days later, on Nov. 19, Duff announced on Twitter that they had returned from their quick trip to Canada to visit Comrie's family in his hometown of Edmonton, Alta., which does not share L.A.'s tropical climate.

"Just landed...spent time with the family in Canada! So fun and busy! And cooooold! Brrrrrrrrrr," Duff wrote.

And it looks like the warm gear Luca sported earlier last week came in handy: Duff also tweeted an adorable picture of father and son bundled up and riding a sled, captioned "My main men!"

Despite the cold, some quality time up north with the Comries was likely worth the trip. But luckily, the family made it back to L.A. in plenty of time for Duff to celebrate American Thanksgiving, hit up her Pilates class, and wear only a tshirt and flip flops — much more to her liking, we expect.
