Beyoncé will headline the halftime show when Super Bowl XLVII takes over the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 3, but it might surprise you to know that the singer will not be collecting a performance fee for the gig.
NME reports that the NFL will only cover production fees which amounts to approximately $600,000 and it’s likely that “Love On Top” hitmaker or her sponsor Pepsi will foot the bill for any extra expenses.
The article also states that last year, Madonna’s halftime show featuring appearances by artists like Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. cost $1 million to execute and was watched by 114 million people in the United States.
According to Billboard, the Material Girl’s performance “is the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show featuring entertainment” and it will be interesting to see if Beyoncé can beat that record this Sunday.
